Government Vs Private Jobs - Which is better?

Can you tell me for any individual, what defines a job? It’s not only work which we do for a living or getting money. Or it is not a 9 am to 6 pm routine that must be followed. It’s more than that. Job is something that defines us that not only tells about what we do but also tells about who we are. So it’s a kind of important subject.

Broadly, there are two kinds of jobs we do. One, for the government and the other, at private institutions. Both are good or bad in some or other way for anyone. But one thing is common in both and that would be both can give you recognition in society and financial assistance. Both can decide who you are and what you can do?

Government jobs which we do in government-regulated companies and these are some secured based jobs in which you are getting job security. But wait a minute there is a myth here. I will clarify this for you in this just keep reading this blog.

Private jobs which we do in private companies that are not directly regulated by the government but indirectly they are.

So which is good for you government job or a private job? I’d not going to answer that because it’s your call. But yes I can help you with this by listing out some advantages and disadvantages of government and private jobs.

Advantages of having Government Jobs-

  • They are flexible and you can take leave whenever you want.
  • In this, promotion can happen in regular intervals with salary increments.
  • They are more employees friendly and government always think about their employee.
  • They are somewhat highly respected jobs.
  • Some benefits are also there such as the issuance of health care card that ensures employee from the cost of hospitals and medicines, transportation benefits, etc.
  • Even after retirement, government employees can get a retirement fund with benefits

Apart from these, some disadvantages are also there

  • Their salary structure is not so much than private jobs.
  • It needs hard work and full concentration in study to crack any government job.
  • It tests your knowledge in both study as well as the practical implementation of that study
  • Even if you are able to crack any government exam, there is a high possibility that you can’t get a government job.

Advantages of having Private Jobs

  • Salary structure is good with growth
  • Lots of options are there in private jobs.
  • You can learn a lot of things in private jobs
  • They require activeness in work and also multi-tasking would be there so you never know what you have to do in order to get the job done.

Here are some disadvantages as well

  • They are not as flexible as government jobs and the duty hours vary according to the work that you are doing
  • Small companies can fire their employee according to the situation without any notice period
  • Some find an imbalance state between the salary they are getting and the work they are doing
  • Private companies often think about their budget and they are not employee-friendly

I hope now you are well understood about the advantages and disadvantages of having government or private jobs.

It is not important though that you have government or private jobs as in each case you have to do your job fully responsively and give benefits to the organization you are working for.

I personally suggest you just try one or two years for government jobs and prepare well for them but if you can’t able to crack it then don’t push yourself again just do private jobs instead and side by side prepare for the government jobs and fill exam forms for the same.

You don’t have to worry about not getting a job in the government sector as private jobs can give you those skills that you can’t develop in government jobs. So if you are trying and even then also can’t get it then it’s for your own good.

But if you tell me that government jobs are secure jobs and you can find job security there then you are somewhere wrong. It’s your skills that are secure. If you are skilled then everything becomes secure.

When I am saying skilled that doesn’t mean that you have to acquire some technical skills or anything else. Yeah, they are needed for getting better jobs but they are not only the things that you want to have. There are some soft skills that you need to develop like communication skills, learning skills, adapting to any situation, etc.

Whether you’d be doing government jobs or private jobs if you don’t change yourself with situation and demand then you are not good for any job.

You have to change yourself and update yourself with time and situation. If you remain in your comfort zone like ever then you are going to be of no good to any organization. So, do explore new things just test your capability, take risks, do anything that makes you happy, make time for your hobbies, etc.

Have you learned your lesson that lockdown taught you? If you do not then just go back and remember the time and you are able to understand what I am telling you.

Conclusion

So it doesn’t matter at all whether you do a government or private job. Just do whatever you like doing. Don’t just go behind government jobs because your family pressurizing you or your friends are preparing.

Just ask yourself what you want to do in life. As I have told you that what you do defines you in some or another way so just be happy in what you are doing.
