How to get rid of Synthetic colors in Holi?

Recently we celebrate Holi, the festival of colors and joyfulness. The one thing I saw is this year people celebrated this festival at their home. They followed rules and regulations that the government implements but the thing is the way they celebrate it is the same that means playing with colors.

Playing with colors is not a bad thing because Holi itself means Festival of Colors but the problem is with the quality of colors we use to play Holi. And an unfortunate part is people know that those colors can harm them even then also they play with them.

These colors contain chemicals that easily can harm their skin and if not play carefully then it can cause a huge problem inside their body as well.

The green color that we use contains Copper sulfate that can easily harm our eyes. The red color (gulal) the so-called safe color also contains chemicals that can cause skin cancer. And don’t forget about the silver color that contains Aluminum Bromide and that’s also highly cancerous.

These are the colors that we mostly found in the market and buy them without knowing the impact they can create on our health. So the solution is you need to change the way you play Holi.

Either you can change the colors that you use while playing Holi. In this, you need to buy natural colors instead of synthetic colors like an extract from dry petals of marigold, china rose, and other flowers which have different colors. But these can’t be found easily in the market and also somewhat costlier than synthetic ones.

Or you can protect yourself from these colors by taking preventive methods at your home so that you can’t be affected by these colors and also at the same time enjoying Holi. Do you want to know about these methods? If yes, then let’s jump into that one by one.

For Face and other body part’s skin;

  • Use natural ingredients: It is going to be an easy remedy in which ingredients can be found at your comfort home. You don’t need to buy from the market. You can make a mask that contains gram flour, milk, turmeric, and some aloe vera gel (natural extract).  After removing color from your face with any cleanser, apply this mask for about 10 min and see the result. And after washing your face with cold water, apply any moisturizer cream. It will not only brighten your skin but also clean it and remove all the dirt.
  • Use Fuller’s Earth and rose water: It is as simple as it sounds. In this apply washing your face thoroughly, apply a mask that contains fuller’s earth (Multani mitti) and rose water (gulab jal).  After keeping this mask for 10 min, wash your face and you can clearly see the result. Cleansing your face is also an important step in this.
  • For nail’s skin, you need to apply dark nail paint that can cover your nail’s skin from colors.
  • And as far as lips are concerned, you need to apply lip balm as it protects your lip from cracking.

For Hair;

  • Oiling: Massage with oil on the day before Holi is a good thing to do. Oil can help your hair to not absorbing these synthetic colors and it can ease your washing hair activity the next day after Holi. You can use any oil but when it comes to my opinion, I prefer coconut oil or almond oil. You should not keep your hair with colors for a longer time as it might happen the oil itself soaked by your hair and the colors can damage your tips or scalp of hair.
  • Use of egg and curd: After playing Holi, you can mix egg with curd or just use one of them and apply to your hair as a hair mask for just 10-15 min and then wash them with a mild shampoo. Do notice that the water must be cold. It should not be Lukewarm or warm.
  • Aloe Vera: You can also use a natural ingredient that can be found easily and that is Aloe Vera Gel. Apply this and see the result. These are some preventive ways by which you can protect yourself from these synthetic colors. Avoiding colors in Holi is difficult as you meet with many people on this day. And gulal is common in all because people think that gulal that is red color is safe but that’s not the case at all.

You have to be safe and take whatever preventive measures just don’t let synthetic colors harm you. Wish you an enjoyable and safer Holi with your loved ones. If you like my article then let me know and if you find some flaw then do tell me that as well. The comment section is open for all.
