All of us are part of one community or other. There are communities all around us, which might be consisting of friends, our families, our employment, our neighborhood, and so many other places.
We have communities for our favorite stars or sports teams or even the food that we like. We have groups of people that we hang out with for dinner or for playing a game or something like that.
Having a sense of community unites us.
Being a part of a community can make us feel as though we are a part of something greater than ourselves. It can provide us opportunities to connect with people, to reach for our goals, and make us feel safe and secure.
It is important for every person to have a sense of community. Let's understand, what are the benefits of being a part of a community:
So, what is a community?
A community is a group of individuals connected to each other by one or more attributes. The reason that links them together is at the core and is the essence of the group.
Therefore, one can say, members of the community have a common goal.
How have communities evolved?
Social Media Networks have become a place to market. No one wants to listen to anyone. We just want to speak.
Initially, everything was going fine. I remember creating several groups and communities with a purpose on some social media networks. As group members, we used to post informative articles, blogs, and several educational series free of cost.
Members used to like, comment on articles, blogs, etc, and one of the most important things, they used to read the content shared by other community members.
But after Digital Marketing started peeking in, there were advertisements, banners, and several other sponsored posts all around the groups and communities.
Most of the time we were discussing advertisements and sponsored posts, rather than indulging in knowledgeable tasks.
It became worst when we were not able to identify normal posts from sponsored posts. We had an education community, and hence we were targeted with education-related advertisements. This is actually spamming.
Big enterprises forget the reason, why they started a community-based project on the first side. As organizations become huge, they start selling data to marketing firms, which start posting content that is related to the interests of people in that community.
Organizations have also divided the "World Citizenship", which social media networks used to provide. People around the world used to feel connected. There was something for everyone.
When we used to search for something, we used to explore things from all around the world. Now, big enterprises have algorithms in their social media networks, which restrict the number of people your content can reach.
That's why they promote paid sponsorships. And you used to think, why my article is not getting more than a few 100 likes.
Observe this: Whenever you are going to post something for the first time, e.g., a reel, or a YouTube small video, you will surely get 4k views. But your second video or image or content will have only a few hundred views. I bet, try it and you will understand.
This is because they want you all to think, you can also get a million likes without sponsored advertisements, but the reality is that their algorithms actually block your content to some extent after your first trial.
Your content is restricted as per location, demography, political influence, and several other things that you won't understand. This is the reason why you used to connect with several people around the world, but now you only connect with people from your locality.
These big enterprises have stranded you all in your immediate neighborhood. You cannot explore even a single fly without their approval.
What is the solution?
There is only one solution to this issue - a Social Network or a Community, that is unbiased and has minimal advertisements.
Also, those advertisements should not be targeted. This is because we want people to explore, what is happening around the world.
You are not a frog in a well, are you?
Where can we find a Social Network like that?
