When we talk about Post Graduation courses, there are several times when we talk about MBA and PGDM programs. These courses are awesome because these help in providing new opportunities to students that have little to no experience in this competitive market, and today with this article, I want to specifically provide you guys with reasons as to why choose PIBM or Pune Institute of Business Management for yourself.

Although IIMs and some of the big Business Schools are great in terms of providing the experience required for the students to be a market fit still some aspects keep PIBM standing out as an educational institute.

Some of the things that separate PIBM from the rest of the lot are as follows;

1. One of the strictest B-Schools:
I know, not everyone completes MBA or PGDM for a job, but still, PIBM is one of the strictest institutes that you will be a part of, and obviously, this is for your good itself. This institute ensures that you are giving your 100% every single time, even if you are not interested in studying, there are several practical workshop opportunities that you will feel overwhelmed with for some time.

I gave myself some time and remained in classes, cus I was already coming for 16 hours shift job. So, although this was my vacation time, joining a B-School with such strictness means that you are going to become a successful person down the line.

2. They always encourage to be entrepreneurs:
Well, most of you guys might not know, but professors and teaching ideologies of PIBM are such that you will yourself feel like becoming an entrepreneur. This is because of the fact that most professors that come to teach students have direct industry exposure.

They encourage students to take risks and develop their products and ideas.

I still remember the time when I was working late nights with one of my friends and my professor to build an android application for the institute. Although we never launched it at its full potential, still it used to keep us up all night. 

We used to call professors to guide us with the logic or new marketing strategy that can help us in achieving the sales targets of the products that we had developed. Similarly, we also used to sell things on street and even outside big malls. This helped us get rid of all those feelings that actually keep us behind when we are out in this concrete jungle to sell our products or services.

3. PIBM is in Pirangut Village:
I think most of the Punekars might know this, PIBM is in Pirangut Village which is on the route of going to Lavasa City, which is one of the attractions of Pune City.

The distance from PIBM to Lavasa City might be approximately 30 KM, which has one of the most beautiful landscapes to explore in Pune. You will be able to be near hills, and enjoy the beauty of this part of Pune City as well, which most of the students studying in other parts are not able to do.

This also means that you will see several bikers going on trips on weekends, and because I was also having a bike there, so I used to go for rides from Pune to Lavasa or Lonavala or Mumbai, and obviously, Khandala used to come in between, which was an awesome memory to make.

4. PIBM has a good transport system:
Because it is in the outskirts of Pune, therefore transportation seems a bit messy initially, but PIBM has its own buses that help students go out and in of college, but ensure that you are on time, because once they have started, they won't look back if you are left alone in hostel :D

Jokes apart, the transport team has always been a support system for any PIBM student, because they even help during internships or picking up from different parts of Pune as per the transport requirements.

5. Food is also good:
For the first year, you most probably are going to stay in the hostel, so you may be thinking if the food is good or not. Food at PIBM is actually good and healthy. Initially, as I am from the North, so I had to develop my taste buds for Upma, but slowly I got a hang of it.

But remember to have noodles—those used to be just fantastic.

6. Not everyone is from Pune:
PIBM is a big brand now, and people from different parts of India are coming to complete their Post Graduation from PIBM. So, you will find yourself surrounded by students from across India. You can take an example, I was from J&K and have seen Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, and students from North East side as well.

So, PIBM is also kind of a Mini India.

7. Festivals are celebrated with joy:
As it's already Mini India, so we get to see every single festival and those are celebrated with a lot of joy. I still remember going to Gurudwara and working there and have good memories of Ganesh Chaturthi and Durga Puja as well.

8. You learn a lot from practical exposure:
These all events and festivals are usually budgeted and executed by students themselves, so you can learn a lot of things about managing finances, people, and events. This gives a hands-on experience in skills like Negotiation, or Perspective Building.

9. They have Communication & Aptitude Classes as well:
Many people are usually not selected for a job interview because they have limitations with regard to their Aptitude Skills or Communication Skills.

This happens because several companies that come for campus selection usually filter out students based on Aptitude and Communication Skills because obviously, they can't interview all the 500+ students.

To help students become better in communication and aptitude, there are different departments set for addressing both issues. This ensures that there is a regular communication class, as well as Maths.

Presentations and English Speaking Classes were my favorites because professors used to give us topics and everyone had to speak in front of the class. Initially, it was difficult, but as time passed, it helped us a lot in improving our skills. 

10. Professors in PIBM are amazing:
Many will argue that their college professors are good, but PIBM has one of the best professors. Professors are dedicated to their subjects and are always motivating students to gain practical skills. I have even seen a student that completed 1.5 years out of 2 years in workshops and internships. This actually enabled him to get a good job with one of the real estate companies.

11. You can also get Pre Placement Offer (PPO):
For anyone who doesn't knows what PPO is, a "Pre Placement Offer" is a scenario, when a student gets an offer from a company while they are on an internship or still studying in college. This sometimes happens because students might have performed well in the company and now they want that student to continue with the team itself.

Now this PPO can happen in any college, but I have seen at least 3 PPOs in my batch which was obviously because there were more industry experts coming to the college, and hence students got more opportunities to connect with them and showcase their talents.

12. PIBM also encourages Incubation Centers:
An incubation center is a place in an educational institute, where new start-ups or ideas can incubate or start their initial work. This helps students to get hands-on experience in working and managing businesses, which they can usually only learn while they are doing the job for real. This helps new students give their innovative ideas and also have exposure to the issues that a new organization may come across. 

13. Placements are also good:
I haven't seen anyone in my batch that were serious about their studies or Post Graduation and didn't get a job. Getting a job is tough, but if you have worked hard for the 2 years, then you definitely leave PIBM with a placement offer. 

Even for me, who was in HR, finding a job was a bit difficult at first, but as days passed by, I started focusing on my Analytical and Development skills, and in between itself, I received a good job. Also, many people from PIBM are in good companies, you can directly connect to them and they will be happy to help you find a job. This usually never happens, because students are placed well by the institute itself.

14. There is a gym as well:
PIBM's core philosophy is also inspired by being fit, therefore there is a gym at the college premises itself. You can take your stuff like shoes and keep them in the locker. You can opt for the locker in department 105 and can keep your gym clothes and shoes there. 

This was great for me because, after a long day of mental exercise, you need to relieve stress and that is where gyms become really important. I used to attend morning lectures at 7 AM sometimes, and then after completing my data at 7 PM in the evening, I used to go to the gym and work out for 1 or 2 hours and then go to my room. It was really good because every set that I used to make there, helped me in gaining the confidence of getting a good job, and also kept me going even in stressful situations.

And one thing is clear, not everyone goes to the gym these days after classes. So, if you are doing that, you are already ahead of the curve.

Conclusion;
Although there are a lot of things that we can say about PIBM, but in the end, it is always in the student's hand what he or she wants to do with his or her life. For example, if you're serious to work hard on your skills and complete all the assignments that you have been provided, there is no way that you are not going to get a good job.
