The Lip area is one of the attractive features of beauty in human society. Shape, fullness, definition, and volume-like attributes have all been associated with the desire to enhance beauty and attractiveness. This can also be achieved using lipstick. Below is one of the simple formulations of lipstick that is transfer-resistant.

Phase A
Ingredients

1. Ozokerite - 10.50% w/w
2. Polyethylene - 5% w/w
3. Octyldodecyl Stearate - 13% w/w
4. Diisopropyl Adipate - 2% w/w
5. Isocetyl Stearoyl Stearate - 14.70% w/w
6. Shea Butter - 4% w/w
7. C12–15 Akyll Lactate - 11% w/w
8. Hydrogenated Polyisobutene - 5% w/w
9. VP/Eicosene Copolymer - 5% w/w
10. VP/Hexadecene Copolymer - 5% w/w
11. Tocopheryl Acetate - 0.20% w/w
12. Retynl Palmitate - 0.10% w/w

Phase B
Ingredients

1. Isopropylparaben (and) Isobutylparaben (and) Butylparaben - 0.40% w/w

Phase C
Ingredients

1. Red 7 Lake (C6507 D&C Red #7 Calcium Lake) - 1% w/w
2. Iron Oxides (C33-8073 Yellow Iron Oxide) - 1% w/w
3. Titanic Dioxide (White) - 1.20% w/w
4. Iron Oxides (C33-5198 Black Iron Oxide) - 0.35% w/w
5. Isocetyl Stearoyl Stearate - 3.45% w/w
6. Tricontanyl PVP - 0.10% w/w

Phase D
Ingredients

1. Mica - 13% w/w
2. Mica (and) Iron Oxides (and) Titanium Dioxide - 4% w/w

Procedure

1. Prepare phase C color grind using a roller mill (Melt Ganex® WP-660; add to the color mix before milling)
2. Melt phase A ingredients. Heat to 90–95°C; mix until uniform.
3. Cool batch to 82–85°C.
4. Add phase B; mix until smooth.
5. Add phase C color grind; mix for approximately 30 min.
6. Add phase D, avoid aerating batch; mix until uniform.
7. Pour samples at 82–85°C.
