How to Make a Survival Kit?

We have started living in a Concrete Jungle and hence we should know ways to survive if something goes wrong

Everyone wants to feel secure and prepared in case the worst happens. Having a proper survival kit stored and ready for an emergency is a critical part of keeping you and your family safe during the event of a crisis.

  • Let's first start by making a Disaster Supply Kit for House:

  1. Scaple
  2. Alcohol Wipes
  3. Gauze Pad
  4. Aspirin
  5. Medical Tape
  6. Iodine
  7. Betadine
  8. Doctor's Spirit and other medicines for fever and some anti-inflammatory drugs
  9. Scissors

A first aid kit will help in curing small injuries and prevent them from becoming infected and leading to major medical issues. Other items in the first aid kit can be vitamins, sunblock, and bug repellent. If you have some prior medication, one should keep a stock of those as well as we never know how much time it will take to recover from the disaster.

  • Stocking Water/Making supply of Water Available: Before getting water, you should also consider the fact that there are other members in your family, so you need to calculate daily consumption and stock water as soon as possible. This is because you can last up to 20 days without food, but without water even 5 days becomes unthinkable.

  • Keep Non-Perishable food Items stored: This is also important as, during the time of the disaster, all perishable food items will be first to be depleted, and hence we should try to store non-perishable food items beforehand. For Example, keeping Pulses, Noodles, Chips, and Biscuits as an emergency food supply will be a great advantage in surviving a situation, when you are stuck somewhere and it is difficult to get fruits and vegetables. Also, their shelf life is longer, which makes sure that even if your fruits and vegetable stocks are depleted you can munch on these until you get more food supply from a new source.

  • Keeping Flash Lights Handy: One should also make sure that there are flashlights available. This is because in case of an emergency most of the time there will be no one to repair a broken line connection. Hence having flashlights really help you in the longer run. Also, keep some batteries handy in case it took more time to rescue you. You can also use Flash Lights as a self-defense weapon if someone has forcefully entered your home. This can happen during a shortage of food supply.

  • Keep Lighters and Match Sticks Handy: Match Sticks and Lighters not only help you in getting fire to cook food but also help in making sure that you are warm if there is some light cut because of a snowstorm outside your house. Keeping a stock of lighters and match sticks also helps in getting motivated as you can perform a number of tasks using those. It is good to have a flare with you, which can help you to locate in case someone is coming to rescue you.

  • Carry a Compass, Map, or GPS: This is also important because in case you want to reach your home in a disaster situation or a pandemic, you will require to be in the right direction or else it will take years to find the right direction. Also, learn how to use them.

  • Store Personal Hygiene Supplies: Supplies like Soap, Hand Washes, Tooth Brush, Tooth Pastes, and Razors, etc should be kept in the kit itself. You will thank yourself for this. These are some of the ways by which you can create your own Survival Kit. Keeping some plastic bags also helps in the long run.
