One of the most important reasons for stretch marks is an intense exercise that we do on a regular basis.

What are Stretch Marks?
Stretch marks are a sign of rapid growth of muscles because of intense exercise. We are saying rapid because these might occur because of rapid muscle growth than the normal time it takes.

If you have stretch marks on your shoulders, it may be because of rapid mass gain from either muscle or fat. When we go to the gym or pursue some workout like bodybuilding etc, we may observe stretch marks on our shoulders.

How to prevent Stretch Marks?
As we have already discussed, how stretch marks occur, we can now focus on how to prevent them. Because it may happen because of rapid gain of muscle or fat, therefore, there is a need to focus on the below things to avoid them:

1. Follow a timetable: 
When we go to the gym, we are basically trying to reach our goals as soon as possible, whether that is through weight loss or gaining muscles. When we also want to choose a plan for gaining muscles, we should go for a routine, which promotes steady progress. When you are slowly gaining muscles, it may help you in avoiding stretch marks.

2. Don't gain too much weight suddenly:
We all want to gain those bulky muscles, but when we use shortcuts like steroids, which help in gaining muscle mass, we may even develop stretch marks.

Also, while some people gain muscle mass, many people go into depression and gain sudden weight because of fat, which again might be a reason for stretch marks.

3. Moisturize your skin:
Moisturizing your skin with lotions, cocoa butter, shea butter, and products with vitamins A and E, helps in reducing stretch marks. 

Also ensure that you drink enough water and keep yourself hydrated, which keeps your skin moisturized as well.

4. Have a nutritious diet:
Eating food items that have a good amount of vitamins, and antioxidants helps in ensuring that your skin is more stretchable and less prone to stretch marks.

How to make stretch marks less noticeable?
Stretch marks are normal and many people have them. They are not uncommon since they are a part of growing. But if you want to make your stretch marks less noticeable, you can use the below tips:

  • You can tan yourself.
  • You can use toner to tone your skin evenly.
  • You can also wear shirts with sleeves.
  • Nowadays you can also use some cosmetic treatments like microdermabrasion etc to get rid of stretch marks.
