Why People Around the World have become more Disconnected?

    Mithlesh Dhar

    Have you noticed one thing!!!

We all have become so disconnected from each other. There was a time when Facebook actually created a difference because it connected each one of us together.

Not only together, but with people all around the world.

I remember talking to strangers from other countries, sharing contact details, figuring out several social media networks for sharing content and ideas.

There was a time when we used to find people with whom we have lost touch on Facebook. We used to connect with people on Orkut to share scraps (if I remember it correctly).

    Hush !!!

Those days seem lost now. And it is not because we have grown, but because the actual essence of social media has changed to "Social Marketing".

Now, everything has changed, and we don't even notice it because we are too busy watching "reels" or "videos" on social media networks, most of which are marketing videos.

Social Media Platforms have now become more #conservative, don't believe me? Let's discuss some things:

    1. In the past social media feeds were not geography-based. We were able to share something and everyone around the world.

But now, Social Media Feeds are mostly Geography-biased. Content created by you all is shared as per the location. This restricts how interaction happens. Now there are no more surprises. No interaction at all because we are unaware, how things are happening around the world.

    2. You need to pay for reaching your audience, or else, you are not allowed to connect at all:

You would have observed, the first "reel" or "YouTube" short video that you post is always getting 1k or 4k views, but after that, you start observing a decline in overall views that you get.

This is done intentionally, so as to get you addicted. Social Media Websites today are trying to hook us all and they want us to taste how it feels to be famous, and after that when you think you are doing really great, you start lagging behind. Now, to get more likes and followers you require money to pay.

All the companies around the world, are paying amounts of money to Social Media and Internet giants to get more views and reach their customers. The actual essence of getting connected with people around the world has changed now. You will require to pay money to become popular or to build your brand from scratch.

    3. There are fake paid mentors all around:

These big internet companies have started paying fake mentors huge sums of money to influence people all around the world to teach them things that will seem like a guide to becoming successful on the internet.

SEO, SEM, Digital Marketing? You should understand, these all are rules of big giants that they want you to learn and put your time and money into. I bet everyone would have completed "Digital Unlocked by Google". I bet you also have that in your resume.

This is because the same was with me while I was in college. I had gone through several websites, several courses, which teach the same thing in three different ways. And you know what, everyone will eventually feel like a learner because they are not telling you the truth.

So-called influencers are just people who have stuck in a trap: "Pay Money for Ads - Become Famous - Teach things that have no basis - Ask for money from Courses - Again Pay for Ads to promote their courses".

You will have to understand, you won't get a piece of the pie because you are not one of those internet giants. Understand your value.

    3. Social Media has lost its essence:

You don't understand, but social media has lost its essence. They are making you "Frog in a Well".

You see what they want you to see. You have actually lost your free will. Tell me, when was the last time you searched for something on Facebook? or you have joined a Facebook group for connecting or getting some information.

This is happening because we are targeted with things that we usually like. Social Media Algorithms show our feeds that we are already interested in. This destroys an urge to search and find awesome and surprising things on the internet.

How can we get things straight now?

Think before paying to internet giants. Why have they become the way they are and how are they actually exploiting us all. We should try to appreciate simple things, like:

    1. A Social Media Network that is simple and ground to earth with only one algorithm to connect the world and not divide.
    2. A simple search engine, which is not trying to show search results that are paid or as per our interest.

We want to see things that are based on our keyword search and not on our behavior. Also, the content shouldn't be based on the basis of location, gender, or political influence.

Appreciate new projects that seem old-school, but are bringing back simplicity. You will be less addicted and use the internet for a better cause.

Then the internet will be a source for your information and it will not tell you what to do. Notifications will not ask you to wish someone or tell you that you have missed someone's blog post. These are the things that we know we have to do and we don't need machines to tell us what to do.

It would have been better if we ould just receive one notification for the things that are happening and not what and how we need to do a particular thing.

I don't know how many people will understand what I have written. But if you have understood, you can connect with me on a platform that is trying to restore the essence of Social Media, by actually connecting the world and not dividing it.

Big media and internet concerns are actually playing "Divide & Rule". Be aware of it.

I don't know how many people this post will reach, but if it really reached a million people, I will really feel like this time algorithm is not determining the posts. But I am pretty sure, this blog post or article, whatever you want to say is not going to cross 10k views even on this network.
