Several of my friends had asked it before and continue to ask if they can switch their careers to "Data Analytics". It may be because initially they were interested in Sales or some other department and then they were fed up with the work or maybe because of the salaries.

For several years now, salaries of regular posts have started to see some decline, especially in Sales, this is because most of the sales are now done through online modes, because of which there has been more competition for all the sales employees that get a job in the initial stages.

If you are also someone who is fed up with your job in Sales or in HR, this answer will clear your doubts about switching your career to "Data Analytics".

I would not take much time and explain what Data Analytics as a subject is because that will take us to a different tangent altogether, but to make it simple for you - YES YOU CAN SWITCH YOUR CAREER TO DATA ANALYTICS.

This is because Data Analytics is just understanding the data and exploring insights using the data that is with you. You would have done it in your Sales or HR jobs as well while creating your Presentations or while giving the Sales or Attrition Reports to your management.

It's the same analysis but with the help of some sophisticated tools.

So, how can you switch your career to Data Analytics?
One of the best ways will be to get a certification in "Data Analytics" from some institute or some online courses because they will be able to handhold you whenever needed. This will also make you more confident in the tools that you may be using.

Having said that, you can still learn Data Analytics without any course at all, and that is possible by following below steps:

        1. Start learning Advance Excel:
If you really want to join an organization as a Data Analyst, you should be confident in using Excel. It should be your go-to software to exploit all the loopholes and formulas. There shouldn't be any corner of Excel that you don't have explored. This you can do by checking out videos or searching for articles that can help you understand various formulas.

Then you should practice using those formulas in Excel spreadsheets using some dummy data. This is important to hone your skills in advance Excel. This should include, VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, INDEX, MATCH, IF, NESTED IFS, etc. Also, it will be great if you can learn VBA (Visual Basics for Excel), as this will help you in developing several dashboards and macros that you can showcase to your potential employer.

        2. Start learning Statistics or at least its Basics:
Statistics is applied mathematics that you can use in any field that you are in. For example, if you are in sales then you can always use average or percentage change in sales of online vs offline shops. And if you are in HR you can use it to showcase trending changes in attrition across different companies in your sector.

This is also important because statistics helps you in creating a story behind the data. It will help you in understanding what tools are doing and how you can explain it to the management. Further, statistics is an integral part of any Data Analytics project, so it is always good to have a good knowledge of the same.

        3. One of the first tools should be Power BI:
There are several colleges or courses that can help you in learning Power BI. It is a Business Intelligence tool by Microsoft, similar to Power Point, and has some functionalities similar to Excel's Pivot Table. Therefore, your first go-to tool should be Power BI in learning Data Analytics or the tools that can help you in making Data Analysis more faster and efficient.

One of the important things to understand is that tools like Power BI help in visualization as well. This is because Businesses not only require insights into data but that should also be in a proper way.

Power BI has simple one-click charts and maps that can help you create different dashboards and reports that you can showcase during your interviews as well. Also, there is a demand for Power Bi these days, therefore if you will put Power BI in your resume, you will start getting more calls.

        4. Start building stuff:
Although I can suggest more tools like R, Python, Tableau, and Alteryx, it is always better to first start with basics and easier tools to gain confidence.

So, the best way is by developing and analyzing data.

Try working on dummy data, clean it using excel macros and then fetch the data in Power BI to create good-looking dashboards. Although there are advance formulas in Power BI as well, but you should focus mainly on developing dashboards using the components that are readily available to you.

What should be your course of action?
When you have decided to switch your career to "Data Analytics", it is always better to keep on practicing using your own dashboards and checking out several sample dashboards that have been built online by several people or experts.

You should try to dismember those dashboards and then create them one by one.

This can be done to improve your ability to back track the overall functionalities of the dashboards that have already been built. Then you can add Power BI and other tools in your resume as well. This will help in making your resume stand out as you would have listed some of the work on your resume.

Then ensure to keep on learning new software and techniques to achieve more expertise on Data Analysis Tools. This is important because landing an entry level job in Data Analytics will be easy, but to grow in the same, you should be able to first enhance your knowledge as there are several changes happening in the Data Analytics Domain these days.

        Conclusion:
These days data analytics has become a wide term and there have several technologies come into picture which were not there initially. Several organizations want people that have industry specific knowledge in this field. Therefore, you should try and explore more and more information about Data Analytics while you learn the basics.

It is always better to explore domains like website development or Google Apps Script to add it to your resume, as the demand in the industries is growing for cheaper analytical softwares.

In the end, I would like to say that you can surely switch career to data analytics domain, just ensure to be dedicated. It is not easy in this field but you can surely make fortune if you are interested in Data Side of the Story.

The online subscription business model has grown significantly in popularity in recent years. This model allows businesses to generate recurring revenue by charging customers a monthly or yearly fee for access to their products or services. Many companies have successfully implemented this model, including media outlets, software companies, and e-commerce platforms. If you're looking to start your own online subscription business, here are the steps you need to take:

            1. Choose your niche and research your audience
Before you start building your subscription business, you need to identify your niche and research your audience. What kind of products or services will you offer, and who is your target customer? Conduct market research to determine the size of your potential market and the demand for your product or service.

              For Example:
              * Niche: Online language learning platform
              * Target audience: Adult professionals looking to learn a new language for career advancement or personal growth
              * Market research: Conduct surveys and interviews with potential customers to understand their language learning needs and preferences.

            2. Develop your product or service
Once you've identified your niche and your target audience, it's time to develop your product or service. Make sure your product or service is unique and valuable to your target customers. Consider offering a free trial or demo to get customers interested in your offering.

              For Example:
              * Product: Interactive language lessons with live video tutoring, personalized feedback, and gamification features
              * Unique value proposition: Advanced AI technology that adapts to the learner's pace and learning style, making language learning more efficient and engaging.

            3. Decide on pricing and subscription model
Next, you need to decide on your pricing and subscription model. Will you offer a monthly or yearly subscription? How much will you charge? Will you offer different pricing tiers for different levels of access or features? Consider conducting market research to determine what pricing models work best for your target audience.

              For Example:
              * Subscription model: Monthly and annual subscription options with discounts for long-term commitments
              * Pricing: $29/month or $249/year for access to all language courses and tutoring sessions.

            4. Build your website and payment system
Once you've developed your product and pricing model, it's time to build your website and payment system. Your website should be easy to navigate, visually appealing, and optimized for mobile devices. Make sure your payment system is secure and easy to use, with options for automatic billing and cancellation.

              For Example:
              * Website: A clean, modern design with easy navigation and mobile optimization
              * Payment system: A secure and user-friendly payment gateway that accepts major credit cards and PayPal.

            5. Create content and marketing materials
To attract and retain customers, you'll need to create high-quality content and marketing materials. Consider hiring a copywriter, graphic designer, or video producer to help you create engaging content and marketing materials that highlight the value of your product or service.

              For Example:
              * Content: Engaging language lessons, informative blog posts, and success stories from satisfied learners.
              * Marketing materials: Social media posts, email newsletters, and online ads promoting the benefits of language learning and the unique features of the platform.

            6. Launch and promote your subscription business
When your website and content are ready, it's time to launch your subscription business. Consider offering a promotional discount or free trial to attract new customers. Use social media, email marketing, and paid advertising to promote your business and drive traffic to your website.

              For Example:
              * Launch: Offer a free trial period and a discounted rate for early adopters
              * Promotion: Use targeted online ads on social media and Google, guest posts on language learning blogs, and partner with language schools or companies to offer the platform as a perk for employees.

            7. Analyze and optimize your business
Once your business is up and running, you'll need to analyze and optimize your business to maximize revenue and customer satisfaction. Use analytics tools to track customer behavior and engagement, and make adjustments to your pricing, product, or marketing strategy as needed.

              For Example:
              * Analytics: Use tracking tools to monitor customer behavior, feedback, and churn rate
              * Optimization: Make adjustments to pricing, product features, and marketing strategies based on customer feedback and market trends. For example, offering additional language options or adding more personalized coaching options.

In conclusion, creating an online subscription business can be a lucrative and rewarding endeavor, but it requires careful planning, research, and execution. By following these steps and continually optimizing your business, you can build a sustainable and profitable subscription business that delivers value to your customers and meets your financial goals.

Human Resource is one of the main departments in any organization, and HR managers act as liaisons between employees and corporate leadership. Within an organization, Human Resource Managers are responsible for maintaining positive relationships between the employer and employees and ensuring that workers are happy and satisfied. Although the journey can be a bit long, it is rewarding indeed.

                1. Make a commitment to yourself first:
One of my professors used to say that HR Managers are not there to Dominate Employees but to guide them, and I believe this is one of the most unorthodox ways of representing HR Managers.

This is because, many people around the world think that Human Resource Department are only a pain in the rear, and this notion has become because many HRs still use their powers to dominate or harass the employees. Having said that, one should be both mentally as well as physically ready to take on the job of HR Manager. This is because HR has to deal with both stresses from the employer as well as from the employee.

                2. Make a career plan:
Now after you are committed, start working on creating a career plan for yourself. Becoming a Human Resource Manager can be a high-paying, rewarding career path, but one should see where he or she stands in terms of knowledge of that domain.

You may have to go for a Bachelor's and then a master's in Human Resource Management and then work on several HR Positions before you reach the HR Manager Position. Different countries have different courses for HR Management, so you will have to do a bit of research for the same.

You may also want to take up psychology as you will need to be able to work with people, and having some knowledge of psychology can give you input into how people think.

                3. Go for internships during your MBA or after that:
Internships are the most important thing if you want to work in any department as such. This is because every organization wants to hire people with prior experience, and finding a person with experience is not possible without undergoing internships.

Internships will also help you understand if you are made for the Human Resource Department or not because you will get hands-on experience working in all the main sub-departments of HR. But always ensure that you try and learn things while in the internship. Never be afraid to stretch yourself a little bit to learn something new. Sometimes the companies that find that the intern is working hard and that he or she has learned a substantial amount of things in the department, may absorb the interns as well.

                4. Create a resume:
A solid resume is an invaluable marketing tool. Before graduation, compile a solid resume that you can use to market yourself as you seek out entry-level jobs in HR Field.

You can even create an online resume to make it easier for you to share it with the employer, and the hiring managers also like people who are innovative with their resumes, as it shows that the candidate is interested and actively looking for a job. This also shows your passion for your profession because you are sometimes also going to check other people's resumes.

Formatting in the resume should be consistent. Also, keep font sizes and designs consistent across the resume. Make sure that you include your email id, address, full name, and a link to your personal website if you have one. And don't forget to include your phone number as well.

If you have great speaking skills, consider creating a video resume as that will impress your hiring manager as he or she can actually have a feel of what you have got by both the senses, i.e., hearing and seeing.

                5. Seek a job in the HR Team:
Once you have completed your studies, use your resume to find a good job in the HR field. It doesn't matter if you get a recruiter's job or an HR Generalist, what matters is your passion and dedication in this field, because that is only going to be the focus and working through stress, and growing in your position.

                6. Practice Interview Skills:
It is always better to be ready by practicing your interview skills. Being respectful, professional, and impressive during an interview can help you a job.

Try to be well dressed during interviews. It is better to have a good suit during an interview, as it shows your passion and dedication towards getting the job. Someone who is not ready for the interview will display a casual attitude, which will again make it difficult for the hiring manager to make a decision.

Use good non-verbal communication. Make eye contact with the interviewer. Smile and nod to show that you are listening. Stand up straight to convey confidence. Offer a firm handshake at the beginning and the end of the interview.

                7. Do some research about the company:
Research the company before going for an interview. You want to show that you are invested and interested in the potential job. Spend some time browsing the company website learning about the company's mission, ethics, and history.

                8. Acquire New Skills:
HR is not limited to payroll and making salary slips. There are several new dimensions opened up in the HR Domain. For example, grow your skills by learning HR Analytics, or Labour Laws, and if possible, go for the legal course as well.

This is important because you will have to grow on the corporate ladder in order to become an HR Manager, and for that, you should be learning new things in the HR Domain at a really fast pace. Also, after learning, try to implement those learnings in practical situations, as this will help you showcase our talent to your seniors, who will surely promote you to higher designations.

                9. Apply for HR Manager Position:
It may happen that your organization may not be able to recognize your talent, as people make mistakes. But you should not lose your heart if you are not promoted to higher designations. You can always search for a high-paying job or higher positions with different companies.

But ensure that you have at least 2 to 3 years of experience in all the companies that you have worked with. This will easily help you secure a high-paying job, and you will also be able to secure a Human Resource Manager position.
