Artificial Intelligence has grown manifolds for some years now, and software like ChatGPT and Bard have shown their capabilities in very little time.

Some of the AI programs have already started to prepare for college degrees and in some time they will be a part of the workforce, but when is it going to happen or how much replaceable are we humans?

When calculators first came into existence there was little backlash as people at that time though that job of Mathematicians or Accountants will be in danger, we all now, after several years of existence, no Accountant or Mathematician has been replaced by a calculator.

So, the short answer to this question is No. Artificial Intelligence will not replace programmers or coders in the shorter run or at least till the time you get to retire.

This is because we can ask a program to develop something, but the management won't take the headache of doing all the development work.

There are several templates already available online that this AI software is already fed with, but if you want to develop something from scratch, AI is still at a very nascent stage to do those all things.

Yes, it is true that AI can create a few small landing pages, or can even help professionals in summarizing code snippets or even troubleshooting a bit, but it is still unlikely for an AI to develop a full-fledged web application that will work seamlessly.

It may happen that AI will reduce the workload of a team or if there are 4 people required, there will be the requirement of 2 or maybe 3 people only, but still, the part where there is research and cognitive ability required, AI's still require at least a half-Centurian to reach.

Even if AI programs will quickly learn your level of coding, but still organizations will want a human in place of a machine. No employer would like to have a machine as a subordinate. That will be like banging your head in front of the wall. Managers won't be able to shout on machines and machines will only do what they understand, because they will also take time to become perfect in the art of web development or application development.

More than this, application development requires a lot of things. You can code an algorithm that can make sense to unstructured data but the technology is still nascent that it cannot work on its own or else the CEOs will also be out of jobs as machines can better make decisions.

So there is no need to worry about the job market, as it is going to flood with more jobs that will demand use and administered of AI technologies for development work. Your work effort will surely get less as you will have tools at disposal, but your job won't get affected.

Also, it is always better to be on the learning curve to learn new things that will keep you ahead of the AI Tech War.
