What is missing in the Beauty Industry?

      One of the most important things that I feel is missing from the Cosmetic Industry is Empathical Thinking towards Innovation.

      Imagine waking up one day, with your eyes not working anymore, or your motor skills being impaired.

      How would you do your makeup or shave? Something easy now has become so hard.

      The same make that made you feel confident about yourself, now no longer can have that mask.

      Solution
      By making products with Empathy in mind. Companies can make it easier for specially-abled customers to use cosmetic products. They should be given control and power over things they might sometimes lose.

      Some suggestions might be;

      • Have options for cosmetic products with braille descriptions embossed onto the back.
      • Arranging colors by shade, making palettes easier to memorize.
      • Making packaging easier to open, by concealing hinges and buttons that open the product.

      The beauty industry is full of products that are targeted to people who are sighted, whilst not thinking about those who aren't.

      And those big brands might say, they believe in diversity and inclusion.

      By having a large range of products, companies can be accessible to a larger base of individuals.

      There is still a lack of mass-market options for people with impairments. You can't go into a shop and see disability-friendly products retailed along with products for sighted people. Disabled customers need to go out of their way to search and buy it, and because of that, they might end up compromising with sub-par products.

      Makeup should be for everyone to experiment with, by making inclusive products everyone benefits from. The many, and the few.
