Onboarding and its process

Onboarding:
Employee onboarding is the process of helping new hires adjust to social and performance aspects of their new jobs quickly and smoothly, and learn the attitudes, knowledge, skills, and behaviors required to function effectively within an organization.

Steps of the onboarding process.

  1. Company policy & benefit:
    This step basically deals with an understanding of an employee about all company policy and benefit and also the way of working in the company. At the time of joining an employee is granted with a handbook in which all the policies, about working hours, about stakeholders, about holidays, work culture, and many other things are also mentioned which are very beneficial for an employee to understand the company and work accordingly. The process of understanding the company can be in two ways that are in formal and informal way. The formal way deals with when a manager or the head guides the employee and the informal way deals when the newcomer contacts the employees who were already working there. To a research, it was estimated that the information to a new joiner in a formal way is more effective and beneficial than informally.  
  2. Setup work area:
    After completely understanding a company when an employee is about to join the company and on the very first day if the new joiner gets his work station well settled and in a good circumstance then it became the motivation for the employee and it brings the acceptance about the company in the eyes of employees.
  3. Team Introduction:
    After getting a place in the company the introduction part becomes very important. When a manager introduces the employee to his team them it helps the team and the employee to understand each other more effectively. The knowledge and skills which each of them has helped them to achieve their goal faster. The introduction part also helps to save a lot of time for the team as all of them know each other qualities beforehand so, they don’t need to prove themselves to each other, they can focus on their work and proceed towards the goal-oriented direction.
  4. Clarity of role:
    In the introduction to the team, the priority of the manager should be to clarify the role of each member of the team. The role given process should be according to the skillset and talent of the team member. And a manager should also ask his employees about new ideas or any other suggestion this will help to give them the opportunity to add some value to the team and work accordingly.
  5. Decide training program:
    After all the above process the employees should get the particular training and guideline about their work. The training part is very important and this basically means to basic knowledge to employees about their work.
  6. Mentorship program:
    This is the basic program that every company take into consideration. This comes into play because on a very huge employee basis, it becomes difficult to listen each and every so, in order resolve everyone’s problem different mentors are assigned to different teams. The mentors must have patience, and leadership quality and also should have the problem-solving capability. Mentors with friendly nature with employees always help them and make a stress-free environment in the organization.
  7. How to implement:
    After knowing each and every step one should always know that hoe to implement all the skills and techniques to their work and how to achieve their desired goals. Individual efforts always play a significant role in this part.
