Air travel was never an easy task for anyone, especially for the people who belong to the middle-class segment. Although rich people enjoy different services in Aeroplanes while traveling, they still Airplane companies find a way to squeeze money out of everyone's pockets.

There are different ways by which Airplane companies do it;

  • By asking you to limit the weight of your luggage
  • By providing average food
  • By giving a small cup of water when asked for water,

and many more.

Today I am not going to cover when Airplane companies charge us, but I am going to talk about Web Check-Ins particularly.

Different people have different issues with airplane companies like food. They take huge amounts and give wafers and packed juice for lunch. I don't want to name airplane companies doing that, but it has become a common practice these days. There used to sandwich a few years back, which is now changed to wafers and cold drinks.

Now, talking about web check-ins.
I can't understand why people require web check-ins. No one wanted it in the first place.

In the good old days, we used to book an airplane ticket and that was it, we were allotted seats as per availability or we were even shown a bunch of seats to select from, and everything was included in the ticket.

But now, you will have to select a seat, and if the seat is in front, it will cost you more as compared to if the seat is somewhere else.

And it's not over, the complicacy of selecting seats during web check-ins is another issue. These travel companies or even airplane companies don't ask you to do a web check-in at the time of booking your tickets. They ask you to do it a day before you have to travel.

Now some airplane companies will say that you need to book seats at the time of booking tickets itself, but the question is why are there so many steps in booking a simple ticket?

And the answer is simple:
To ensure that airplane companies and travel companies get every opportunity to squeeze out money from the traveler's pocket. They are shameless people sitting on management teams that have no shame or morality about what their plane looks like and what facilities they are providing.

They don't care if their plane doesn't has enough space to spread legs.

They usually charge you for spreading your legs or booking a more spacious seat on the same plane, and I can bet that they will also ensure that you will have to pay for the air you breathe in the coming decade.

Why are we silent?
Everyone suffers today. I know you would have experienced this on your last trip. You may even have asked to upgrade your seat to a spacious seat at the airport and they would have told you that you will have to pay 15,000 rupees more per traveler to get those seats, and if you have pre-booked the same seat during the time of booking your air ticket, it would have cost only 1000 or 2000 rupees more.

Still every one of us is silent, and this is because airports are supposed to be used by rich people.

As an air traveler, you cannot complain about the cost of what you are using, because if you do so, then you actually are not eligible enough to fly in airplanes.

Airplanes are meant for Business Class people only, and if you say that you are from a certain industry and you make a lot of money, I won't believe if your airplane doesn't have a sofa and a private sleeping cabin. Well, this might seem rude, but this is what people talk like when they are talking about airports or air travel.

Anyone who is traveling via air behaves as if they are the richest people in the world, and never complains about the facilities provided by air travel companies. This is wrong. Speak up, it might not affect you to pay additional 15000 rupees per seat, but it will 100% affect a senior citizen or student traveling to their home town.

What is the solution?
There is only one solution to the monopoly of these airplane companies, and that is raising voices on the wrong ways of making money. If you let them put charges overcharges on your services, then they will keep on charging you. Remember;

You will have to know your limits, because takers don't have any.

Anyone who has a habit of asking for money will continue asking money for everything they do. But we will have to keep them in check.

I am not having a problem with increasing rates of air travel, but why make someone's life miserable while traveling?

Airplane companies or Air travel companies will have to understand what all exploitation they are doing, or else the only way is to boycott these companies until they understand our issues.

      Absolutely bang on. Companies like IndiGo aim at creating maximum discomfort. Earlier only seats with more leg space were charged. Then the 'window' seats became paid. Now they are charging even for middle seats. A shame, indeed!

        Absolutely true, processes like web check-in makes it difficult for us to travel. For first time travelers, they may even think that they need to book seats or else they will have to travel standing in airplanes.

        Monopoly indeed !

          I think web check was introduced at the time of start of covid pandemic and it was mandatory for every flier to web check in to avoid physical contact at the time of check in while boarding a plane.The administration resorted to web check in process  to avoid rush at the counters of different airlines. But now this web  check in is a way of minting money from the simple passengers by way of process of selection of every seat.Otherwise their should be some percentage of these seats say 30%  which should be kept for those passengers who opt for paid seats. The controlling authorities should keep a watch on these malpractices adopted by Airline cos.
